Kigali's established residential addresses sit on its hills: Nyarutarama, with the city's golf course; Kimihurura and Kacyiru, home to Parliament and most government offices; and upper Kiyovu, long home to the president's residence. New housing is going up further out, such as Heza Estate at Batsinda in Kinyinya.
What it means for owners and developers
- Furnished residences for people on assignment serve embassies, international organisations and companies housing staff for months or years at a time.
- Co-owned buildings are becoming the norm. Their value depends on a functioning owners' association, a fair service charge and records an outside buyer can trust.
- Owners abroad expect monthly statements and photographs, not phone calls.
